That was a brave step we took together!
We entered the Salt Lake Temple as two single people, and we left a married man and woman; Mr.and Mrs. Robert Miland Draper. What a glorious transformation. It took place on August 28, 1953; 62 years ago. It has been a magnificent relationship.
Our wedding picture shows two young people,
Strong marriages, with a spirited pair, do not just happen. They take great effort, they take time, and they take each partner giving their best. Every marriage is different, but every marriage, seeking for solidarity, has a remarkable chance to experience the feeling of being victorious.
Bob and I offer three codes we have lived by:
Agree to Disagree: Loosen grip on opinions.
Honor the Relationship: Always remembering the relationship is greater than the problem.
Live the Golden Rule: Do unto others as we would have them do unto us.
Life gives all marriages challenges. There is a wise quote by Vivian Greene: "Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass...it's about learning to dance in the rain."
Look at us now, after 62 years, the mature Mr. and Mrs. Robert Miland Draper.
Humbly we give thanks for the many years we have had together.
Dear Reader, until the next post...
"Keep Calm and Carry On"
For now...
For now...
Bob and I are going to be outside singing at the top of our voices and
vigorously dancing in the rain puddles; celebrating our 62 years together.
